AAP appeals to people to stop paying 50% of electricity bills - aam aadmi party

If Berjinder Singh''s order was passed in 2010-11, electricity bills would have been half of what it is today

On the second day of Bijli-Pani khulasa, Arvind Kejriwal addressed a massive rally in Rohtas Nagar, which was attended by thousands of people. The anger of people was evident as Arvind Kejriwal and Gopal Rai explained how corruption of Sheila Dikshit had led to spiraling prices of electricity and water. It was due to this that aam aadmi of Delhi has been feeling the pinch and finding it difficult to lead a normal life.

In the past 8 years, water prices have increased 18 times. A family which was paying Rs. 73 in 2004 for 45 kiloliters of water, is now paying Rs 1355 for the same. The government is slowly progressing towards privatisation of water which would further lead to price rise. aam aadmi party news.

Similarly, electricity prices have also been increased drastically. If the order (2010-11) made by Berjinder Singh was passed, today Delhites would have been paying just 50% of what they are actually paying today. Arvind Kejriwal said, "electricity bill should have been 50% less than what we are paying today. Therefore, I appeal to the people of Delhi to pay only 50% of the bills. If your electricity connection is disconnected, then I would restore your connection."

Earlier today, Delhi Police denied permission for Rohtas Nagar rally initially. AAP workers in Rohtas Nagar had given an intimation about the rally to the police long back. However, the SHO of Mansarovar Park called AAP workers last night and informed them about the cancellation of permission. As this news spread, due to pressure from people, the police had to give permission for the rally.

In other parts of the city, Manish Sisodia held two meetings in Okhla and Trilokpuri. In Trilokpuri, he took 10km walk meeting people door to door. Many women came forth in large numbers and shared their woes.
